Alpina ECL 2.0 NOT Coming to the U.S. (New Pictures)

Unfortunately for fans of the the Alpina’s ECL Pro boot (myself included) its replacement the Alpina ECL 2.0 is not going to be brought to the United States this season. One can only assume there was insufficient demand for the product or a possible scarcity of product due to low production yields. Despite this sad news I have come across quite a few new pictures of the Alpina ECL 2.o (thanks to skinørd and Måns Sunesson) but these new images have only raised new questions about these boots. In Aplina’s official product photo the boots have a standard Rottefella Xcelerator sole, but many of the unofficial images of the boots feature a much more light weight and minimal full carbon sole similar to that found on the new Fischer SpeedMax Skate boots and the Alpina ESK 2.0. Of course the more minimal full carbon model could just be a prototype, but on the other hand this could be a hint that Alpina may release a marathon specific classic boot that is stiffer than the standard ECL. What do you think about this disparity in specifications? Are you disappointed these boots aren’t coming to the US? If you live in Europe and have these boots how are they? Let me know in the comments below!

The one with the xcelator sole is the boot that is sold in Norway at the moment!

    • I suspected this would be the case. Thanks for letting me know! How do they look in person?

Quite similar to the old ECL. But I would say that theese are more stable. Maybe because of the new carbon heel?
Otherwise the design looks awsome! The design in this case is engraved in the membrane. Sort of a 3D print… instead of just simple paint as the old ECL had.

All the stores in Norway who stock this boot have posted the ECL 2.0 with the xcelerator sole photo. My suspicions with regard to the “speed max/ESK 2.0” sole seen on an ECL 2.0 boot are that this will be 2016/17 “new update” i.e. either being proven or actually ready to go to production but being held back for next winter (although more than likely to be seen on the world cup circuit during this winter).

I was just checking the google analytics statistics for my website and saw that I had an inbound link from this url that had brought som traffic to it. I had to check out the url and found your website. Cool website by the way! You should have contacted me back then for more info on the boot.

I also saw that you finally will get it for the U.S market! Have you got the opportunity to ski with it yet? If so how did you like it?
