SkiGo Boa Pole Strap

SkiGo Boa Pole Strap

Nordic ski pole straps are usually a hit or miss piece of equipment: they they either work perfectly for you or they absolutely intolerable! There are dozens of strap layouts and buckle patterns one more more complex than the last. The small ski wax and pole company SkiGo plans to address this issue with their new pole strap design for the 14/15 season. The race strap BOA brings an entirely new take on pole strap design through the use of BOA technology. BOA is a ratcheting dial system which allows for quick yet ultra precise adjustment. This system is already found on many snowboard and ski boots as well as bike shoes and other applicable products. Having personally used this closure system extensively in the road bike world, I am thrilled to hear that it is coming to the Nordic ski industry. Velcro is an outdated fastener which loves to tear up our expensive race gear! It is still unclear whether the system will be available separately or only on their line of poles. Hopefully this change in technology will push the rest of the pole industry to innovate and produce a better strap.

Good news! As a northern skier I loath the current pole straps that won’t allow an easy switch from double mitt to ski glove without a major re-adjustment. Would love it if the Ski*go allows for easy adjustment.

    • Hey Don! Thanks for the comment! I totally agree, a way to transition between gloves and mittens of varying size without having to entirely rejigger your setup would be a game changer!
